The first image is Eudora Welty’s original cover for The Optimist’s Daughter. Eudora Welty’s writing is known for her deep insight into southern families and their way of thinking. My cover of her book is meant to represent her own photography and colors that represent that specific time period, which is why I chose a modern floral design as the background. The second image is Eudora Welty’s original cover for Delta Wedding. The jacket as a whole is meant to represent the returning to your home town and being surrounded by old friends and memories. For both covers I wanted to keep the feeling of old, southern comfort. This way, if these books were ever to be republished, the general public could pick up these books and instantly know that they are written by the same author, an older novel, and a classic.
